THREE SIMPLE WAYS TO LIVESTREAM YOUR CHURCH SERVICE

OPTION ONE

ATEM Mini Pro + Camcorder

Hardware/Software:

Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro                                                                                            $859.00                   (Soundguys Australia)

Panasonic HCV-180                                                                                                          $349.00                   (Officeworks)

Vivitar 50″ Tripod                                                                                                              $19.88                       (Officeworks)

Comsol HDMI to Mini HDMI Cable 2m                                                                       $29.88                      (Officeworks)

Keji 1.5m High Speed HDMI Cable                                                                              $5.48                         (Officeworks)
Antsig 20m CAT6 Ethernet Network Cable                                                              $35.00                      (Bunnings Warehouse)

Setup:

Using the hardware encoder built into the ATEM Mini Pro, you are able to directly connect to YouTube, Facebook or other platform directly from the unit and does not require a dedicated streaming computer. It will also automatically scale all inputs to the correct resolution and the ATEM Mini Pro can act as an additional capture card if desired. The Panasonic camera can output 1080 HD “clean” feed via HDMI mini cable into one HDMI input on the ATEM Mini. The camera’s optical zoom allows flexible placement. Plug the ethernet cable into your router and the other end into the Mini. Plug the output of your presentation computer into another input of the mini with the HDMI cable to stream your slides.

OPTION TWO

USB Webcam

Hardware/Software:

Logitech StreamCam Full HD Camera Graphite                                                      $279.00                   (Officeworks)

Open Broadcasting Software (OBS)                                                                            $0.00                        (Free Download)

Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD 2×2 USB Audio Interface                                 $129.00                    (Store DJ)

TOTAL $408.00

Setup:

The simplest (and cheapest) method, and not recommended for high quality results. USB Webcam connects to a computer running OBS which then connects to streaming service of choice. Great for “fly on the wall’ shot of your service. The Webcam will have a built-in microphone, however using the audio interface to connect the output of your sound board to OBS will be a far better option for intelligibility and audio fidelity. You can simply this setup further by streaming directly through Facebook Live or YouTube Live instead of via OBS.

OPTION THREE

ProPresenter 7 + Capture Card + Camera

Hardware/Software:

Panasonic HCV-180                                                                                                          $349.00                   (Officeworks)

Vivitar 50″ Tripod                                                                                                              $19.88                       (Officeworks)

Comsol HDMI to Mini HDMI Cable 2m                                                                       $29.88                      (Officeworks)

Elgato Cam Link 4k Capture Device                                                                           $169.00                   (PC Case Gear)

Renewed Vision ProPresenter 7 (Single Seat) $399USD*                                   $515.00 AUD          (Download)

Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD 2×2 USB Audio Interface                                 $129.00                    (Store DJ)

TOTAL $1211.76

Setup:

Panasonic camera plugs into the Elgato capture device via HDMI mini to HDMI cable, which is connected to the computer (Mac or Windows) via USB. This video feed becomes a “live camera input” in ProPresenter (version 7) which not only can be used as the sanctuary’s presentation software which is highly flexible and configurable, but can also encode its output and stream to YouTube of Facebook. The USB audio interface will connect the output of your sound board to ProPresenter for a good quality audio feed for the stream. (You could also use a DAW on a separate PC)

THINGS TO NOTE:

Some setups assume availability of an existing computer. PC specs and internet connections used must be capable of running OBS, ProPresenter 7 and encoding video. Check the developer’s websites for more information and recommended minimum requirements. 5Mbps (720p) and 10Mbps (1080p) NBN upload speeds recommended for streaming. Some setups require audio patch cables to connect your sound mixing console to the interface, ATEM Mini or computer for sound (not included in lists as depends on console model). A CCLI Streaming Licence is required for music performed and broadcast on the stream. * ProPresenter 7 is a once off cost, but will require a yearly subscription for updates and new features and is billed in $US. A dedicated DAW (separate PC required) could also be used for mixing the livestream, using a digital sound console’s USB or dedicated i/o card, such as Dante and Dante Virtual Soundcard. Reaper is a great option for this at US$60.
